How a Poshmark live show became a personal connection to viewers.

Most people go live on Poshmark to sell, sell, and sell. Although my purpose is to sell, there’s something more ambiguous about the intent of my shows.

I started by trying one show but when the outcome was better and larger than expected, I knew there was something much bigger happening than just a great closet of clothes.  It was realizing I have a bigger audience to which I can connect.

Starting out with a good eye for clothes is a plus but reaching people and connecting through a lens is the part that marvels.  What I do in my business is speak to a lot of people.  Meditation opened the door for me when I extended Michele Marano & Associates into a branch called MeditationIn.  It solidified the core of my businesses under one umbrella, guiding through inspiration backed by solid experience and knowledge.

When the camera goes live it’s my job to light up with the camera and the audience.  Offering something they can use is good, but pushing a sales pitch doesn’t work.

Connecting with an audience becomes rather personal.  Sharing your ideas and giving them a piece of your knowledge subtlety is an art.  I have a wide range of viewers.  Some stop by for the storytelling, my background in what I do, why I wear the clothes I share with them.  They are buying from my personal closet and they are inspired.  This is the idea of my show and it’s coming through as a connection to viewers whether they buy or not.  I enjoy speaking live or into a camera. It’s how I feel most comfortable when I’m sharing my creativity, my background and how I describe what to wear, how to wear it and where.

The show can become personal, extending a little bit about design and why it’s important to set my own trends, showing up at an event dressed to set apart.  My era of “Sex in the City,” which I reference to my audience so they can imagine what to expect, is the unexpected.  I imply the level of confidence one should empower themselves when dressing and feeling good about what they wear.

It’s not about others thinking you look good or not, it’s the fact that you feel comfortable within yourself.  Then the confidence grows from there.

I really have no idea who I’m speaking to.  I just know I have an audience and they are responsive.  My last show was two days after September 11th and without the intent to having a conversation about the event, my conversation somehow when down that path.  I caught myself sharing something that created a deep movement inside me about my 9/11 story.  I wept and had to catch myself but I allowed my audience to experience this with me.  They were amazingly gracious, expressing heartfelt responses, being encouraging.

There needs to be a bond formed when you connect with your audience and for myself, it happens spontaneously. It doesn’t matter if I’m talking about fashion and style or inspiration and empowerment. To me, this is my everyday routine anyway.  It’s what the core of my business is about.  MeditationIn is just the formal extension of helping people find themselves in special, creative ways. Expressing the self is why we are here. Our existence is sharing and being conscious of what we do.

When you get to this place of comfort on a camera, you can go anywhere.  My show on Poshmark emboldens my connection to people everywhere I go.  Instead of speaking in person at various places, I can speak on camera and reach that many more.  This is a good feeling, not just for myself, but a real fulfillment to reaching people in some way.  Clothes are just a tool, just like meditation is the tool we use to discover the highest and best version of our self.
